Since I live in the midwest the freeze/thaw cycle worried me and I used the polymeric sand between the pavers to seal it- two buckets at $20 each brought my total to $1100 roughly. The flume is probably a midwest thing but I'm guessing decomposed granite in other parts of the country would be a good substitute.
